DERA GHAZI KHAN: Three members of a family were shot dead on Wednesday allegedly over an old enmity, while the assailants managed to flee from the scene.

Muhammad Khan and his brother Nazir Muhammad along with their elderly uncle, Faqeer Muhammad, were on their way back from a police station after attending an inquiry over an old land dispute when they were shot dead allegedly by their rival, Jalal Umrani, and his accomplices.

The attackers managed to flee from the scene.

According to a witness, police did not reach the location on time.

A relative of the deceased told Dawn they had informed police about threats from their rivals but police did not pay heed or provide them security.

District Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Maikin told Dawn the motive behind the murder was an old rivalry over a piece of land. He further claimed teams had been constituted to arrest the absconding suspects.
