PESHAWAR: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Peshawar Cantt Circle Abdul Rehman, along with his driver was injured, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in Badbher area on the outskirts of Peshawar.

According to police, DSP Abdul Rehman was on routine patrol when he was attacked near Sheen Daran area in the jurisdiction of Badbher police station.

Rescue teams rushed to the site of the attack and shifted the DSP and his driver to Lady Reading Hospital.

The DSP received minor injuries, rescue sources said.

Earlier, police official Aleem Khan was shot dead in the Shah Qabool area of Peshawar where he was performing guard duties in front of Shah Qabool shrine.

In the past two weeks, at least seven police personnel have lost their lives in incidents of target killings whereas ten others have been injured.


Blast injures two in Mohmand tribal region


At least two people were wounded during an explosion in the Baizai tehsil of Mohmand tribal region.

The explosive material was planted along a roadside in Manzri area of the Baizai tehsil which injured two passers-by in the area.

Rescue and security teams rushed to the blast site and shifted the injured to a nearby Hospital where their condition was reported as critical.

Security forces cordoned off the area as a search operation went underway.

Earlier on July 17, a security official was injured in a blast in Musakhel Landi Shah area of Baizai tehsil in Mohmand Agency.

Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) is governed by tribal laws. An extremist insurgency led by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) plagues the region and the area is known to be infested with militants, including those from Al Qaeda and other armed extremist organisations.


Militants attack a Nato container


Unidentified militants attacked a Nato container on the Pak-Afghan Highway in Jamrud Tehsil of Khyber tribal region.

The container was travelling from Pakistan to Afghanistan when it came under attack.

Official sources say that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the container in Kata Kusta area, damaging the container. No casualty has been reported.
