The trailer for Creature 3D – India’s first monster science fiction, which marks the debut of Pakistani actor Imran Abbas – is out, and judging from its Jeepers Creepers rip-off poster and the two-minute trailer, it looks like a disaster.

Imran maybe liked on TV, but with his recent Lollywood debut with film Anjuman in 2013, we feel it’s too soon for the young actor to venture out into B-town. He’s no Fawad Khan, who can take such risks and still make you weak in the knees – even if the film is no good.

The film takes us to the hilly terrains of Summer Hill, where a young and enterprising girl Ahana (Bipasha Basu) launches her new, warm and cosy boutique hotel called ‘Glendale Forest Lodge’. Here she meets Kunal (Imran Abbas), who is one of the first guests at the hotel.

All goes well at Glendale untill one day, a Godzilla-like creature attacks Summer Hill. Ahana is traumatised by the deaths of her guests and the havoc created as the hotel turns unsafe for visitors.

In a typical Bollywood hackneyed scene, Ahana considers killing herself with a handful of sleeping pills, after she receives a notice to shut down her hotel. But the protagonist reconsiders her decision and decides to be strong and fight.

The science-fiction movie is Director Vikram Bhatt's third 3D film after Haunted (2011) and Raaz (2012). However, it appears that the director's previous horror films were far better than Creature.

The ‘creature’ – which is still kept in the dark in the trailer – has been created in India itself without any international technical help. But looking at the promo, it doesn’t feel like the Godzilla me-too is going to do its job well in scaring the viewers.

Although the plot seems weak, it was unfortunate to see Imran's barely there appearances. The promo doesn’t show much of him to be able to comment on his performance, but we hope to see more of him when the film releases on September 12.
