RAWALPINDI: Four activists of the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen have gone missing from different parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Sunday.

According to a spokesman of the MWM, Zaheer Abbas Naqvi, secretary general of the Islamabad chapter of the organisation, was picked up by law-enforcement personnel from Faizabad when he was going to take part in a procession of Yaum-i-Ali in Rawalpindi.

Rizwan Shah and Asim Shah, security guards, disappeared from the Soan area and another guard Nisar Abbas, from Sector F-6/1 of Islamabad.

The spokesman said a complaint had been lodged with SHO Abdul Rehman of the Kohsar police station.

But senior police officers of Rawalpindi said that police had not detained any MWM worker. They might have been picked up by some other agencies, he added.

Allama Abdul Khaliq Asadi, secretary general of MWM’s Punjab chapter, and Saeed Rizvi of Rawalpindi met SP CIA Haroon Joyia on Sunday night and claimed that the four had been picked up by Punjab police.

The MWM leadership has threatened action if the activists were not released.
