PESHAWAR: Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) on Tuesday issued the latest figures of those displaced in the wake of the Zarb-i-Azb operation, saying the number has almost reached 0.8 million (800,000).

The FDMA data said the total number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) so far registered with the authorities was 787,888.

Moreover, the total number of families counted so far was 62,493, including 2,11,549 male and 236,883 female members, while the number of children was 339,456.

Furthermore, the registration process for the IDPs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Peshawar which was stopped yesterday due to mismanagement at the registration point in Hayatabad resumed today.

The registration of IDPs from the North Waziristan tribal region who had travelled to Peshawar and other northern districts had started yesterday.

Registration of IDPs who shifted to Peshawar to live in rented houses or with host families continued for the second day.

According to officials, the displaced people from Boya and Datakhel areas would be registered today at Government College of Management Sciences Hayatabad under strict security.

Tomorrow, IDPs from Mir Ali would be registered while on July 10, displaced people from Dosali and Garyum would be registered.

Razmak and Shawal IDPs are set to be registered on July 11 and affectees from Ghulam Khan would be registered on July 12. The remaining affectees from other areas would be registered on July 14.

After an incident on Monday in which IDPS and FDMA staff scuffled, authorities banned media entry to the centre.

The registration of IDPs who had travelled to southern districts was also underway in Bannu, where three registration centres had been established.

The FDMA spokesman had said the government was determined to register every displaced person in order to ensure speedy distribution of relief amount, goods and other services so that no family was deprived of the facilities.
