LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party and Awami National Party will not participate in the All Parties Conference (APC) to be organised and hosted exclusively by Dr Tahirul Qadri-led Pakistan Awami Tehreek at the PAT’s central secretariat in Lahore on Sunday (today) on one-point agenda of the Model Town tragedy.

Maulana Samiul Haq-led Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam has also refused to attend the APC reportedly.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Awami Muslim League, All Pakistan Muslim League, JUP-N, Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) and various other regional parties will attend the conference, as their leaders have reportedly confirmed their participation to Dr Qadri.

Party leaders say since Mr Qadri doesn’t accept the law and the Constitution, their parties will not attend the APC.

“Though we strongly condemn the model Town incident and demand formation of a judicial commission of Supreme Court’s judges, we are observing that the incident is being politicised,” says PPP leader Shaukat Basra.

ANP Secretary-General Ehsan Wyne says since his party leadership believes that supremacy of democracy, law and the Constitution can put the country on the prosperity track, PAT on the other hand have different point of view.

Talking to Dawn, PAT spokesman Abdul Hafeez said the PPP and ANP didn’t respond to the invitation.
