On what would have been her 61st birthday, Benazir Bhutto's family, friends and well-wishers posted to Twitter in memory of the slain former prime minister,.

Separately in the National Assembly, a Fateha was offered for Benazir Bhutto.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari wished his mother by posting a painting. In a separate tweet, he announced a PPP blood donation drive across Pakistan to mark Benazir's 61st birthday.

Her husband AAZardari ruled the country for 5 years, we knew he was incapable of accomplishing any thing for the nation, at least should have pursued her killers. People he labeled as 'Qatil League' became his partners in coalition government.

And her killers still remain free - something that should shame Zardari, Bilawal and all of Pakistan. Akin to OBL it's an example of a profound event which Pakistan quickly shrugs off and continues on as if the event never took place.

I mourn twice every year, not for the deaths of Z. A Bhutto and Mohtarma Bhutto but for squandering the opportunities these two great political minds of our era had been given. Instead of pulling the country by the bootstraps out of the economic and political abyss, one became a political tyrant and the other, along with her husband, looted the country. Now I shudder at the thought of the next one to loot the country of what is left of it. Of course they did not deserve to be murdered but that is the monster that they themselves created.
