Astronomy

THIS is regarding the article “The planet Earth — III”, by Arif Ali Abbasi (YW, June 14, 2014). The article was full of knowledge and described the tectonic movement of the Eurasian Plate, formation of the Himalayas and formation of various valleys and rivers of the subcontinent and how the atmosphere around Earth was formed, in a very nice way.

This series of articles on astronomy and science is both interesting and useful. Various concepts of science and astronomy are explained in a simple language, which makes it an interesting reading.

How to undo your mistakes

THIS is with reference to the article “How to undo your mistakes” by Salman Qureshi (YW, May 24, 2014).

It was very a useful article as it gave me a lot of awareness about how to live a successful and respectable life. Moreover, making mistake is a normal attribute in all human beings so we should not feel ashamed of it, but should accept our mistakes and try not to commit them next time.

It is my request to all the contributors of Young World to write articles that have good lessons and advices for the young generation so that they can live a good life.

Bates files

THIS is with reference to the Bates files “The SMS mystery” by O.A. (YW, June 14, 2014). I would firstly like to say that the story was an interesting one, with a realistic plot and an acceptable ending.

Over time I have noticed a decline in the quality of these stories in the magazine.

The stories almost always break the first and foremost rule of detective fiction: that all the clues, including the most important one, should be presented to the reader before the solution is given. It should be pure detection instead of intuition, luck, or already having some information only the detective knows. I would appreciate if O.A. wrote real detective fiction in this manner.

Young World is full of fun

I HAVE been reading Young World for more than a year now and I found it to be a nice and informative magazine. I like the stories, “Astronomy and “Myths and mysteries” very much, but I would like to request the YW team to give more space to the short stories section as they are very interesting to read.

I also appreciate the young contributors in “Poets’ corner” and “Art corner” and would like to advice them that they should keep on drawing and writing. YW is a great treat for youngsters.
