MULTAN: The police claimed on Saturday to have arrested five "terrorists of Qari Imran group".

Regional Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains stated that the gang had been smashed with the help of intelligence agencies. He said Abdul Haseeb of Azad Kashmir, Muhammad Amin and Muhammad Nasir of Muzaffargarh, Ahmad Rizwan of Toba Tek Singh and Sarfraz were being interrogated.

He said all the five arrested men had been booked under Protection of Pakistan Ordinance. This group was also involved in placing bomb near the office of an intelligence agency, he said.

He said the police first captured Nasir and reached others through him. He said the police recovered 26 detonators, maps, bullets, pistols, grenades, Kalashnikovs, explosive material, computers and urea fertiliser.

He said Rashid Rehman's murder case was under investigation and the perpetrators would be arrested soon.

BOMB HOAX: Rumours of a bomb led to the closure of district courts and sealing of Chowk Kutchery on Saturday.

The police got an emergency call from an unidentified person who said a bomb had been planted in district courts.

The police with the help of Civil Defence team checked the premises and declared the building safe. They still evacuated the offices to be on the safe side.
