ISLAMABAD: Despite losing six ranks in the ‘Network Readiness Index 2014,’ The World Economic Forum’s ‘Global information technology report 2014’ notes that Pakistan has ensured technology affordability to businesses and individual consumers.

Pakistan’s performance has been relatively stable on the 2014 Index at 111th position among 148 countries. Pakistan lost six ranks as compared to 2013, according to the report published on Wednesday.

It says that Pakistan showed slight improvement on the ‘Business and Innovation Environment’ pillar by improving by ranking at 101 as compared to 102 last year. Also on the readiness sub-index, it improved from 21st position in 2013 to 19th this year. The efficiency of legal system in settling disputes rose from 109th ranking last year to 112th position in 2014.

“One of the key findings of the report is that Pakistan cannot only rely on ICT infrastructure development to become competitive.
