TAXILA: The members of the National Assembly standing committee on defence production here on Tuesday said the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) was a great asset not only for the defence forces but also for the nation.

The committee members, led by chairman Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, visited the POF on Tuesday. The committee members also visited POF product display lounges.

Briefing the committee members, POF chief Lt-Gen Mohammad Ahsan Mahmood said the organisation was mandated to meet the defence requirements of Pakistan.

He said in the current war on terror, POF had met the enhanced demands of Pakistan Army in terms of arms and ammunition.

He said POF was not only meeting the defence requirements of the armed forces of Pakistan but also exporting its products to more than 30 countries.
