RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management Company (RSWMC) has hired the services of 150 employees of the Lahore Solid Waste Management Company (LSWMC), and paid Rs13 million to maintain cleanliness in Murree tehsil.

The provincial government has asked the city district government of Rawalpindi (CDGR) to make arrangements for the cleanliness of the tourist city of Murree, especially on the Mall Road around the Sharif family house at the Kashmir Point and the Governor House.

“The company paid Rs13 million in lieu of the services of these employees, for a few weeks,” said an official of RSWMC, requesting not to be named.

He said that the employees of Murree tehsil municipal administration (MTMA) refused to do the sanitation work as they had not been given their salaries since the last two months. However, he said that the provincial government provided Rs100 million, on Saturday, to MTMA for the payment of the salaries.

The official further said that the around 150 sanitary workers from Lahore will help the sanitation department of MTMA for one month.
