DERA GHAZI KHAN: A bus ran over 24 people standing by Indus Highway at Notak Adda on Thursday. Of them 14 died at the crash scene while 10 sustained injuries, Kot Chhutta police said.

The people who died under the Dera Ghazi Khan-to-Karachi bus included four women and 11 men.

The deceased were identified as Wahid Bukhsh, Ashiq Husain, Hafeez, Bilal, Ahmad Bukhsh, Kashif, Hafiz Husain, Mehmood Changwani, Musa, Ghulam Shabbir, Zakia Bibi, Kalsoom, Jano Mai and Hameeda.

People chased and forced the driver to halt the bus and set it on the fire. Police arrived at the scene and rescued the driver, Meer Jan, of Bannu, from the mob. Later, police shifted him to some undisclosed location.

HELD: A man tried to set his mother and sister on fire on a marriage row of the sister. Neighbours rescued the women and handed over the man to Kot Chhuta police.

Police said they were alerted that Asif tortured his mother Taj Mai and sister Rabia in village Dosa. He tried to burn them before neighbours took over him and handed over to police. The women were rushed to the trauma centre of the Dera Ghazi Khan District Headquarters Hospital.

Station House Officer Chaudhry Ali Mohammad said they had registered a case against Asif.
