SAHIWAL: The district police claim to have arrested all the nominated men in a gang-rape case at village 81/5-R.

District Police Officer Syed Khurram Ali told a press conference on Wednesday that three of the nominated men were arrested the other day and the fourth one was taken into custody on Tuesday night.

The DPO said the girl was raped by four people at a farmhouse around one month ago. He said two persons who filmed the incident and circulated it also had been taken into custody and a laptop and computer being used to download footage and later converting it into CDs confiscated.

The girl’s family initially kept mum but decided to report the case to the police only after knowing about the circulation of the rape footage. The Fateh Sher police registered a case against the accused under section 7-ATA and 294, 376/2 and 365/B of PPC.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the ill-fated family on Tuesday and castigated the senior Punjab police command besides suspending from service a DSP, two SHOs and an investigation officer.

Sources said the police presented three of the accused before the court of Javed Iqbal, an anti-terrorism court, Multan judge, who allowed 10-day remand to the Fateh Sher police.

“The police will seek the remand of the fourth accused from the court on Thursday,” the DPO told reporters. He lauded Inspector Saeed’s efforts who tracked down the accused through IT mobile data.
