KARACHI: Seamer Asif Af­r­idi put the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on top in their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II cricket tournament final against Lar­kana in Multan on Tuesday.

At the halfway stage of the four-day game at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Fata require 191 when they start their second innings on Wednesday.

After having a tough day one o Monday during Fata struggled to 136-8 in reply to Larkana’s 173, Fata bounced back in style by first earning a lead of 26 runs by reaching 199 in their first innings.

Irfanullah scored bulk of the 63 runs Fata collected on the second morn8ing before he was dismissed for 58.

Asif, who had claimed 8-32 in the first innings, then dominated by taking six wickets for 49 as Larkana were all out for 216 in their second innings just before stumps. He ended up with splendid match figures of 16 for 81.

Ayaz Jamali (55) and Bilal Irshad (44) were chief scorers in Larkana’s innings. Bilal also excelled in the first innings with 92.
