BADIN: The administrator of an unregistered seminary was detained on suspicion of his involvement in the gang-rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in a village near Kadhan town on Saturday.

Police said they were carrying out raids on different places to pick up other suspects nominated by the girl’s father.

A man approached the Kadhan police with complaint that his daughter had gone to the seminary located within the neighbourhood, Chaudhri Khushi Mohmmad Arain village, early in the morning for studies but did not return home till late in the evening.

He told the police that after a hectic search, her body was found dumped in farms adjacent to the village.

The body was taken to the Badin Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

While the report was awaited, the girl’s father told the media that there were evidence that she had been gang-raped by four persons before she was strangled.

He nominated the seminary administrator and his three associates in the case.

Police said they did not register an FIR as an initial investigation was in progress.

The victims family members, relatives and a large number of people carrying her body staged a demonstration near Kadhan and demanded arrest of the culprits.
