FAISALABAD: An election tribunal disqualified on Wednesday PML-N MNA Sheikh Akram from NA-89 (Jhang) and declared runner-up candidate Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat elected.

Mr Ludhianvi and Abdul Ghafoor Jhangvi had challenged the victory of Sheikh Akram, father of former minister Sheikh Waqas Akram, in the last year’s elections on the charges of bogus voting and bank loan default.

The tribunal comprising Javed Rashid Mehboobi said in its order: “Election of the returned candidate Sheikh Muhammad Akram from NA-89 (Jhang-I) has been declared void and simultaneously, the petitioner Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, has been declared as duly elected.”

Security was beefed up in Jhang following the announcement of the tribunal’s order.

Justice delayed is justice denied. If the election tribunals speed up the cases soon Khawja Saad Rafiq, Khawja Mohammad Asif, Abid Sher Ali and many others will be disqualified. The corrupt people must be jailed and debared for life.

Court should order the government to start implementing fool proof electoral voting under Nadra electronic voting system and be ready for next elections. Then we will see who is the genuine people's choice. It is being done in KP.

Is this a face different from the cavemen with whom government is negotiating?

The tribunal head most probably declared him the winner due to fear. That's what all the spineless judges do these days. They release dangerous terrorists just to save their own skins.

Everybody know that ASWJ is the new name of banned terror outfit SSP (Sipahe Sahaba Pakistan). It is also known to be the political wing of the Taliban. I think legitimization of ASWJ was one of the conditions imposed by the Taliban during ongoing negotiations. Such deplorable events can only take place in Pakistan and nowhere else in the world. I will not be surprised if Musharaf goes up in opinion polls. Pakistan is a place where the terrorists are being given honours and high civil ranks and honourable army general who has defended the country for 45 years, is being prosecuted to be declared as Traitor. Waoo, this is the perfect example of a confused nation with double standards and twisted mindset...

@Goga Nalaik: You are not that much Nalaik Mr. Goga. I agree with you. This is same ASWJ which is physically, mentally, strategically, historically add more "Callies" to the list, connected to to LeJ the most devastating and brutal terrorist organization. Therefore, May Allah Protect Pakistan.

Such a sense of humour, what can one say. Sheikh Waqas has been disqualified on some FIR (due to some bus accident) whereas Ahmed Ludhianvi who is thought to be the mastermind of countless killings has been notified the winner. Another bright day in Pakistan's judicial system.
