PM chairs high-level meeting on security and peace talks

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting, during which matter pertaing to internal security and progress over the peace talks with the Taliban were discussed, DawnNews reported.

During the meeting, held at the Prime Minister House, the further course of action to be taken regarding the peace talks also came into discussion in addition to internal and external security of the country.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Director-General Lt-Gen Zaheerul Islam, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and special assistant to the prime minister, Tariq Fatmi,

The situation in Afghanistan and recovery of kidnapped Iranian border guards were also discussed in the meeting.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan was following a policy of non-interference with its neighbours and ordered for all possible assistance to ensure the recovery of the abducted Iranian guards.
