MANSEHRA: The police on Wednesday restored security of judges which was withdrawn after guards of a judge injured assistance commissioner, Balakot, the other day.
The district police officer had ordered policemen deputed with three judges of Balakot to report to police lines after the Balakot incident in which assistant commissioner Mohammad Ali Asghar was allegedly tortured by guards of civil judge, Islamuddin.
Hazara Division’s deputy inspector general of police Akhtar Hayyat Khan Gandapur visited Mansehra and met with district and sessions judge Mohammad Younus and immediately ordered the restoration of security of judges and courts in Mansehra and Balakot.When contacted, Mr Gandapur told Dawn that the security of the judges had been restored immediately.
Meanwhile, lawyers and court staff in Balakot and Mansehra observed complete strike on Wednesday in support of the judge, Islamuddin. They demanded registration of FIR against the Balakot assistant commissioner.
On the other hand, the revenue staff also observed strike in Mansehra and Balakot demanding arrest of what they said the culprits who tortured the AC and created hurdles in execution of his official duty.
Official sources said high ups of judiciary and district administration were in contact for resolving the matter amicably.
