HYDERABAD: Noted Sindhi poet and writer Syed Rashid Ali Shah, better known by his pen name Rashid Morai, passed away after protracted illness at a private hospital here on Monday evening. He was 71.

He left a widow and eight children, including six daughters and two sons, to mourn his death.

Mr Morai had been shifted to the private hospital five days ago from a Nawabshah hospital. He was suffering from acute asthma and breathed his last at 4 pm, said Shah Latif, son of late Morai.

Morai who originally hailed from Moro was a prolific writer. He wrote many books of which 12 had been published while about 50 remained unpublished.
