KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Mines and Minerals Manzoor Hussain Wassan claimed here on Friday that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would be joining the Sindh government in a few days, DawnNews reported.

He further said that he envisioned an alliance between the MQM and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

The provincial minister was speaking with media representatives before the start of today’s session of the Sindh Assembly.

Talking about Wassan’s claim, Sindh’s Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that it was premature to comment on MQM’s inclusion in the Sindh government, even though the party has been a part of previous coalition governments in the province.

Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani presided over the assembly’s session, which started after a 90-minute delay.

During the session, MQM leaders in the provincial assembly condemned the extrajudicial killings and disappearances of its party workers and appealed for prayers for their deceased workers.

Following prayers held for the national team’s win against India in today’s World Twenty20 match, the assembly session was adjourned to Monday.
