KARACHI: A young man was shot dead while another critically wounded in a ‘sectarian attack’ here on Monday night.

Police said that Arif Hussain Mehdi, 25, and Mohammed Rafiq, 35, were sitting at their friend’s shop near Hyderi mosque, Golimar-1, in Rizvia Society, when armed men on a motorcycle opened fire and fled.

The wounded men were taken to a private hospital, where Arif was pronounced dead. Rafiq, with bullet wounds in his head and chest, was admitted to the hospital.
