QUETTA: Armed militants in Balochistan’s troubled Mastung district torched a container carrying equipment for Nato troops on Saturday, Levies officials said.

Levies sources told Dawn.com that gunmen riding on motorcycles opened fire at the container in Choto area of Mastung district.

The driver and cleaner of the vehicle were injured in the attack. They said the assailants sped away on their motorcycles after the strike. A fire brigade was rushed to the spot to extinguish the flames.

The injured were shifted to Quetta for medical treatment.

Levies officials said the vehicle was on its way from Karachi's Port Qasim to supply equipments to US-led allied forces in neighboring Afghanistan.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Militants have been targeting Nato and US supplies in Balochistan's Khuzdar, Kalat, Bolan and Mastung districts for more than six years.
