Police said the bomb planted on the roadside near the Khezai Chowk area of Western Bypass exploded loudly when Abro’s vehicle was passing by.

"I have suffered minor injuries as a result of the blast," Abro told Dawn.com via telephone after the incident.

He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment where doctors described his condition as out of danger.

Frontier Crops (FC) and police personnel arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway.

Meanwhile, Dr Abdul Malik strongly condemned the incident and has summoned a report from the police.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.

In a separate incident, two persons were killed in a remote-controlled explosion in Naseerabad today.

The intensity of blast rocked the entire area and caused panic amongst people.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
