Attacks on army, public not to be tolerated, says Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, while chairing a high-level security meeting, said on Monday that attacks on citizens and personnel of Pakistan's armed forces would not be tolerated and that the anti-terror draft bill would be finalised soon, DawnNews reported.

The meeting was also attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Director General of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Zahirul Islam, Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan Army (DGMO) Major General Aamer Riaz and other high-ranking security officials.

Topics discussed during the meeting included anti-terror legislation and the ongoing operations in Karachi and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) of Pakistan.

Premier Sharif instructed the security officials to take action against those behind terror incident and said that such attacks, which target civilians and members of the armed forces would not be tolerated.

Thank GOD, at least now Government know that how it feel when TTP attacking Armed forces ho wit feel. This is a first step towards the right direction.

PM you can stop your lip service any time now. You have done nothing so far for the betterment of the country, you have been given another chance in the office, again Pakistan is on the brink of bankruptcy under your leadership. People are hungry, poor and jobless. They are resorting to all sorts of crimes. TTP is bolder than ever, and you can't stop your senseless chatter. Actions speak louder than words. So far no action from your side.

Attack or no attack, these paid hoodlums must be dealt with an iron fist. Thats the only way out. Negotiaitions with them wont bear any fruit. They will just keep demanding for more according to their thought process. Face them so fiercely that Pakistan is able to dictate the terms/demands to them. If you must negotiate with them then I would rather negotiate with whoever is providing the funding and ammunitions to these extremists. And we all know who that is!!

never can understand what they mean when they say an attack will not be tolerated when it has happened and, therefore, has been tolerated by default. i dont see how a new law will help prevent an attack because of our consistency in poor quality lawmaking and the poorer law implementation in the past. also, the attackers are illegal in the first place. what will probably help is better local strategies, more planning and learning from what has happened already. why waste an ace when a jack would do?

The government should eradicate Islamic militancy from the whole country and discipline the countries clerics from preaching distorted Islam, the root cause of Pakistan predicament.

Civilian innocents are being killed every day. And, what would you do, Nawaz Sharif, Sir. Attack Waziristan? Declare an open war on Taliban? Give them only 24 hours, and you will see attack on public, if not on the army.
