ISLAMABAD: Police on Monday recovered four packets of explosive materials near the farmhouse of former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, DawnNews reported.

The explosives were recovered from the green belt on Park Road, attached to an electricity pole.

Each packet contained one kilogram of explosive materials.

Police personnel recovered the packets and immediately summoned the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team personnel.

BDS personnel defused the explosives and shifted them to Bani Gala police station. Bomb disposal sources said that a probe into the home-made explosives was underway.

Earlier on Dec 24, police had discovered five kilograms of explosive materials, weapons and ammunition close to the route that Musharraf was due to take from his house to the court.

Meanwhile, earlier this year in April, 45 kilograms of explosives had been discovered in a car abandoned near Musharraf’s farmhouse when he was being taken back there after his appearance in an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.

Musharraf files petition in IHC seeking presidential immunity

Former president Musharraf filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today seeking presidential immunity from court appearances.

Akhtar Shah, belonging to the Pakistan Social Justice Party, filed the application in IHC. Being the former president of the country, Musharraf enjoyed immunity from appearing in courts under Article 248 of the Constitution, according to the application.

It added that Musharraf had remained the Chief Executive, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and president of the country therefore he should be granted immunity from court appearances.
