KARACHI: Pakistan team’s batting is badly lacking capacity, courage and fighting qualities to win matches after losing the toss.

“They are lacking confidence, self-belief, courage and clue to handle the situation under pressure,” former Test fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said in his comments on Wednesday night after Pakistan’s 68-run loss to South Africa in the third ODI.

“We fail to understand what’s going on in the team after they lose the toss. They are not performing while chasing,” he commented.

He said he was deeply disappointed with the batting performances of Umar Amin and Mohammad Hafeez.

“After such consistent failures these batsmen must sit out and face the music,” he remarked.

Shoaib called upon captain Misbah to show guts, courage and attacking mindset. “Misbah should assert his complete authority and take some bold decisions to put the team on the right path,” he said.

He also expressed his disappointment the way Shahid Afridi lost his wicket and the way he batted in hurry.

“Apart from taking wickets, Hafeez and Afridi should contribute with the bat,” Shoaib added.

“Pakistan’s batting looked in extreme pressure after they lost Misbah’s wicket,” he added.

“I feel depressed to see Pakistan crumble after a promising start by Ahmed Shehzad and Hafeez,” he said.

“I don’t know when they will learn to chase. Their performance leaves a big question mark on the future of Pakistan cricket,” he pointed out.—APP
