Police claim more than 110 suspects arrested from parts of Karachi

KARACHI: East and West Zone Police on Friday claimed arresting more than 110 suspects during targeted operations in the city, DawnNews reported.

According to the police, the arrested also included 70 wanted criminals.

Police forces also arrested a suspect Asif during a targeted operation in New Karachi, who it said was involved in targeted killings. According to police sources, the suspect had connections with a political party.

Meanwhile, Rangers forces undertook a targeted operation in Purana Haji Camp and arrested Arifullah, a suspect involved in gang war. Weapons of different bore-sizes and calibres were also confiscated from him, including six pistols, three repeaters and numerous bullets.

Rangers also arrested four suspects during an operation in Quaidabad. According to a Rangers spokesperson, the suspects were involved in targeted killings and had connections with a political party.

In another part of the city, the regional officer of a political party was gunned down in MPR Colony of Orangi town. Panic gripped the area following the incident.

In another incident, a social worker was stabbed to death in the city's Mehmoodabad area.

Karachi is the financial hub of the southern Sindh province, and is besieged by extortion, kidnappings, and terror attacks. It is presently undergoing a targeted operation to rid the metropolis of such elements.
