LAHORE, Sept 29: Police teams probing into the rape of a five-year-old girl reportedly took a police constable and his accomplice into custody on Sunday suspecting their involvement in the abduction and sexual assault.

Local news channels reported the constable, of Baghbanpura, who was initially picked up by officials of Joint Investigation Team with the help of CCTV footages and his presence in Ghosia Colony, Mughalpura, on the day of victim’s kidnap, was appeared to be prime suspect. He is posted in the Capital City Police Office.

However, focal person on case SP Imtiaz Sarwar said: “We have no information about any such arrests.”

Also, a meeting to review the pace of investigation took place at the Central Police Office in which JIT head DIG (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed and other members briefed IG Khan Baig about the progress.
