A double suicide bombing killed more than 60 people at a church service in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, officials said, believed to be the deadliest attack on Christians in the troubled country.

Pakistan's small and largely impoverished Christian community suffers discrimination in overwhelmingly Muslim-majority but bombings against them are rare.

The two bombers struck at the end of a service at All Saints Church in Peshawar, the main town of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has borne the brunt of a bloody Islamist insurgency in recent years.

@Faraz: the irony is that the enemies are within the islam itself, who thinks by killing others they will earn Jannah. Nowhere it says in Quran or Hadith that kill an innocent and you will go to Jannah. These brainwashed morons have no idea the hell they are creating for themselves in the afterlife.

Heartfelt condolence to my brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ on this barbaric act committed by our strategic assets against a poor and peaceful minority in this land of pure. Government in center and KP wants to negotiate with them who are responsible for multiple killings not only of civilians but also people in uniform. The question is, do we love Pakistan or these barbarians. .

I'm sorry but many of these pictures are disturbing and should have been published they have been. Im very disappointed in Dawn for publishing such graphic images in complete disregard to the victims and the families by ''sensationalizing'' photos of them in their time of grief. The government needs to sent a fitting response to these terrorists who are killing our innocent Pakistani civilians. How can these barbarians kill innocent people while they are praying to God? Last time I checked, Muslims and Christian worship the same God. We really need to figure out who these terrorists are and who/from where funding is coming from! No to compromise.

I think it is time that our government and military decides that enough is enough! All those localities/communities where the Taliban/Terrorists live, should be bombarded and leveled to the ground. Maybe people should be given an ultimatum of 24/48 hrs to get out (and all leaving should be assembled and screened)..and then destroy the entire localities. There doesn't seem to be any other way to get rid of these horrible non-Muslim terrorists (who so strangely call themselves Muslims), who all will undoubtedly will be rotting in Hell forever!

Does it really matter, which Islam is more correct? Does it really matter what Jinnah wanted? Isn't this killing in the name of religion, well past philosophical arguments? But clearly this makes sense to some nut jobs. Just remove religion from the state roster and wipe out all those that kill - whether in the name of religion or not, whether within the country or outside.

Extremely sad and unfortunate to read the story and see these horror pictures. The enemy within (Talibans and all fanatic religious groups) in Pakistan will destroy everything that is remaining. If nothing is done against these known groups or if the people of Pakistan just ignore to all these daily killings, bombings, kidnappings, extortion, rapings....you name it, the core existence of Pakistan is at risk due to the enemy within.

Being an Indian muslim I must say after saudi punishment, pak is the only country which can teach the lesson to this terrorist. In India there is communal violence but for Allah put security and Intelligence agency active in nonmuslim area of Pakistan.

Suicide bombers or remote controlled bombs? The clue to the identity of the perpetrator lies in clearly settling the answer to this question. If remote controlled then it has the fingerprints of RAW, CIA, or the military, if suicide then a misled fanatical outfit or a revenge attack.

My beloved Pakistan was like present Pakistan when I left it in 1976 for overseas employment. Who is safe in Pakistan is the most baffling question as old and young, men and women, Shia and Sunni, Christian and Hindu, masjid and church are all attacked and killed? Where are the Muslims in Pakistan demonstrating for the death of 81 Christians. Should we not step out of our homes to speak out against these hideous human beings and also because they are Muslims committing this crime? We need to take this seriously and make it our responsibility to denounce these goons. They cannot be called Muslims if this their behavior. In fact we should pronounce worst than kafirs.

Killings of Minority is not new in Pakistan, those were killing they are not of high class society people most of them are poor, toilet, street cleaners and unemployed. So Pakistan government will not affect even they killed or alive.
