Cook-it-yourself

This is with reference to Cook-it-yourself column by Sanam Manzoor. I appreciate Young World team for this great addition to the magazine. Cooking is an important skill and all of us must have at least the know-how of cooking. Sanam, being a pastry expert, writes recipes for kids in a very easy to understand way and, believe me, any recipe published in this column that I tried out at home, was prepared wonderfully because the method described was really easy to follow for kids. However, I would like you to add some recipes of spicy foods as well such as easy to make lunch snacks that might include sandwiches, etc.

“Bounty balls” recipe by Sanam Manzoor in Cook-it-yourself column (September 7, 2013) was quite easy and I tried it at home. The bounty balls were really lip-smacking and everyone, especially my mother, appreciated my efforts. Thank you Young World team for including this column in the magazine — it’s really helpful.

Ants are giants

This is with reference to a very interesting story “Ants are giants” by Sadia Maqsood (September 7, 2013). The story was relevant to almost every kid. When we are young, we don’t consider many things including animals’ feelings. We, for the sake of having fun, annoy and irritate poor creatures and don’t even think about their misery. This story was an eye-opener for all such children who tease animals, birds and insects. God and His prophet have advised us to take care of animals too and if we try to harm them, it displeases God and eventually we’ll have to face God’s wrath as a punishment.

Astronomy

This is with reference to the Astronomy column by Arif Ali Abbasi. He writes on such a dry and complicated subject but in a very interesting manner that I not only understand the topic easily but have now started to take interest in astronomy. I appreciate the writer’s efforts of providing us with great information about the world of astronomy. I also thank Young World team for including this column in the magazine. Such pieces should always be a part of a children’s magazine as they enlighten our minds about many hidden secrets of the universe. We don’t get to study these things in great depth in our school’s curriculum, therefore having such reading stuff in our beloved magazine is no less than a treat for us.

Improper security arrangement in hospitals

It’s an irony that people are not safe even at places like hospitals. Recently the news of kidnapping of a newborn upset many people and it raised questions about hospitals’ management as well. Government hospitals have poor security arrangement and attention is not paid to the visitors — anyone can enter in the vicinity of the hospital and there’s no one to keep a check on visitors. This has made people feel extremely insecure! Those who can’t afford private hospitals are compelled to go to the government hospitals where ,besides many other problems, now they have to face security problems too. I request the concerned authorities to pay special attention to the hospitals’ security management so that people can feel safe there.

****Food shortage and improper healthcare****

Child malnutrition is a big threat to our country’s future. If children won’t get enough food, how can we expect them to become future leaders of our nation! Besides food shortage, improper healthcare facilities too are a great problem. Mostly women and children, especially in the rural areas of Pakistan have been suffering due to poverty, illiteracy and lack of health facilities. It’s my request to the concerned authorities to provide underprivileged people with food and health resources so that they too can live a healthy life and serve our country in the long run. Government and non-government organisations should pay special attention to the flood-affected areas of our country where people, especially children, are more prone to fatal diseases due to food shortage and destructions caused by flood.
