LAHORE, Sept 3: The returning officer of PP-150 continued recounting of votes for the second day on Tuesday and completed recounting of 99 polling stations out of a total of 147.

According to unofficial results of the recounting done on the second day, Mehar Wajid Azeem of the Tehreek-i-Insaf had a lead of 414 votes against Mian Marghoob Ahmad of the PML-N.

On the second day, the recounting started at 9am and ended at 8pm without any disturbance. Recounting of remaining 48 polling stations will resume on Wednesday (today).

Talking to media persons at the sessions court, PTI candidate Azeem expressed his distrust on the recounting process.

He said grave negligence of election staff was exposed during recounting of votes. He hinted at challenging the recounting results citing flaws in the process.

Azeem had lost to Ahmad in by-election held on Aug 22. The acting chief election commissioner had ordered recounting of votes after taking a suo motu notice of the demonstrations held by the PTI alleging rigging.
