ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to withdraw a statement mentioning the existence of a previously unknown militant outfit, the 'Muhajir Republican Army', from the report submitted to the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Attorney General Munir A. Malik had presented the report to the apex court when asked about the federal government's stance on providing assistance to the Sindh government in normalising the law and order situation in Karachi.

During the National Assembly session on Friday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that the government was retracting the mention of the militant group in the report. He claimed that the report was submitted to the Supreme Court without his permission and that he would apologise to the court for it.

However, Nisar clarified that he did not mean to say that the report regarding the Muhajir Republican Army was erronous. He said that the report submitted to the SC was an administrative report and that such reports should not be presented in the apex court.

The interior minister acknowledged that there was mention of the shadowy outfit in an administrative meeting, but claimed that the report was presented to the Supreme Court without his permission.

Nisar said that he had written to the Supreme Court for the report to be withdrawn.

Well, if someone's imagination can create a 'Jinnahpur' then of course you'd think one would need an army, too. So, you call it 'Muhajir Republican Army', and you did. You created this fiction assuming it to be a whip to lash those considered easiest to be made an example of, so you go public. Who could do this job better than Munir A. Malik and what could be the better stage, then SC for this drama. Munir A. Malik! Hmm. Isn't he that law 'genius', the soberest of all who earned himself a name for everything proper, legal and constitutional and yes he is from Karachi, so if he says that we the Muhajirs are bad boys playing such games which are improper, illegal and unconstitutional than he ought to be right. Remember he is from Karachi, an insider, with access to inside of our notorious minds, so to speak. Mr Home Minister, your Prime Minister has chosen wrong time and wrong man and wrong theme to discredit a people. Shame on you, all and everyone of you!

No Clue what the right hand is doing while the left hand sleeps , Any surprise , if he had approved it or not , what does it matters , it looks through his remarks candidly saying , the report infront of the highest court from the Govt side , would always be doctored one , no wonder in many SCP cases , the reports from Govt agencies ( police, intelegence, interior ) are not trusted upon by the countries highest court and with this statement from Nisar , the nation now knows , why the SCP does that very often , the judges know the true from doctored reports , who should blame them ........

What is the point in withdrawing now when immense damage has already been done.

Can someone explain to me what is meant by an administrative report? Does such a report contain too many "uncomfortable facts" that it can't be exposed to the public? Is this new mohajir republican army the infamous naamaloom afraad that we always here of? So many questions....

' Nisar clarified that he did not mean to say that the report regarding the Muhajir Republican Army was erronous'

Even a double talk has some limits. Choudhry Nisar needs further schooling in the art of confusing public.

Nisar Ali Khan is a pathetic politician. This person has no credibility nor qualification to run this ministry. Should resign right away on making such racist claims. No wonder Pakistan is going through such a terrible time because of these types of people.

Mr. Bean should take full responsibility for this fiasco and resign. But, alas, he has no ethical standards to guide him.

It seems & is a prioved fact that the interior minister CNAK is not being fed properly by the ministry thats why he is coming up with statements with no Home work. This statement of some Muhajir army & before that Sikandar story were merely lack of govt control & that too even in Islamabad.what to say CNAK shud read first before giving statements then there Info minister the cool head famous for counting chairs Pervaiz Rasheed would come to protect the minister.

It requires courage to call spade a spade. If even 5% of the missing containers were dished out to the followers of ex shipping minister, you can easily raise an Army of 40-50000. I have no doubt that a good proportion of these containers must have gone to the ilk of BLA, TTP etc who are working in tandem for the same cause and for the same masters.

Withdrawal of any statement shows the incompetency on part of Mr. Nisar. This was a very sensitive issue and without confirmation he mentioned it. Please show maturity.

My sincere advice to Chaudry Nisar…. Think twice before you speak… If you don't have integrity, you have nothing. You can't buy it. You can have all the money in the world, but if you are not a moral and ethical person, you really have nothing.

Interior minister has lost his credibility. It has, in fact, enabled MQM to take aggressive stance against any possibility of 1990s style of state operation. MQM seems to play its card very smartly. They have already won the propaganda war. Being a Karachiite I can convincingly state that no such group exists. It is only and only MQM that enjoys political superiority in Karachi, and they are heavily armed of course.
