Bollywood actors Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, were supposed to come together for the animated 3-D version of the 1994 ribtickler 'Andaz Apna Apna'.

The Rajkumar Santoshi directed movie, which also starred Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon, has achieved a cult status over the years. However, it seems the ambitious 3-D project may not see the light of the day.

Siddharth Jain, who was producing the film, told TOI that the project is on the back burner for now due to funds crunch.

Siddharth elaborated,

"I think the animation format has not picked up in India. It held a lot of promise a few years ago, but not anymore. If the situation improves, I shall definitely go back to the film."

According to sources, the film, which was estimated to be made at a budget of Rs 15 crore, is almost 35 per cent complete and the buzz is that Salman had even agreed to lend his voice to the film. However, Aamir was not approached.

A source close to the development told TOI, "The decision is purely from a business point of view. Why invest money, unless there is a market for your product?"
