RAWALPINDI, Aug 23: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Friday seized 7.5-kg heroin and arrested five people including a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employee and a woman during a raid at a hotel near Islamabad airport on Friday, the authorities said.

The ANF said among those who were arrested was a traffic officer of PIA who had been posted in Karachi but in Islamabad nowadays to facilitate the couple in carrying the large quantity of heroin to UK on Friday night.

Besides the couple, two British national of Pakistani origin were among the arrested persons.

All the accused were grilled by the ANF to trace, if any, their accomplices.

“The ANF has been interrogating the arrested persons to ascertain whether they have any links with any airport agency,” joint director ANF colonel Habibullah told Dawn.

He said the PIA official had been under surveillance for long and was finally caught with the contraband in a swoop on Friday.

The ANF said in addition to the arrest of five persons, two vehicles being used by the gang of smugglers were also confiscated during the raid.

“It is being investigated that how many times the couple had traveled to UK along with narcotics and who had facilitated them,” joint director ANF colonel Habibullah said.
