PESHAWAR: The outlawed Punjabi Taliban, an offshoot terrorist organisation of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), on Monday warned the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government of dire consequences if it carries on with its plan of executing some convicts on death row.

In a pamphlet, distributed in southern Punjab and South and North Waziristan tribal agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan, the terrorist outfit said that the government will be considered at war with them if it goes on to execute their colleagues currently serving jail terms and are on death row.

Pakistani authorities on Thursday said they will hang four convicts on death row later this month, ending a five year stay on the execution of death sentences ordered by the outgoing president.

Inspector General Sindh prisons Nusrat Mangan told Dawn.com that four condemned prisoners, including two members of the banned sectarian outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), would be executed at the Sukkur jail and Karachi Central prison on August 20, 21 and 22.

The pamphlet also warned the PML-N government to be wary of blindly following the Pakistan Army as it said the armed forces use political forces for their own gains. “They (Pak Army) will be in favour of yet another political force after alienating them at due time.”

“Remember what happened to Awami National Party (ANP)….. No one would now go to them even for condolences,” said the pamphlet whose copy is available with Dawn.com.

It said the drone attack on Waliur Rehman was a planned conspiracy of “pro-America generals” to sabotage their ‘wish’ for peace. “Execution of prisoners will prove to be next episode of that conspiracy,” said the pamphlet.

The purpose of this conspiracy is to push the PML-N and its allies into the swamp, it added.

Meanwhile, security has been put on high alert in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after Taliban threats of targeting the government properties including DPO office on August 14.

Official sources told Dawn.com that the TTP militants had threatened a week ago to rob banks and burn down the DPO office in the wake of Independence Day celebrations on Wednesday.

Why should the government be making a announcement about the execution of the sentences? Not surprised by the statement issued by 'criminal fraternity'. There should be summary courts giving on the spot sentences for such heinous crimes rather than keeping them as state guests for five years.

I fail to understand what is the purpose of this article. The human instinct to see gladiators fight during the Roman Era still prevails. The news papers are looking forward to such news to sell their ware. It would be in the best interest of everyone if the media decides rationally what to report and what to ignore.

Hang them if they are convicted. Teach them lessons. No one is above the law & no one has any right to take innocent lives or create terror in the country. Matter of fact expedite their cases and punishment so any one who even thinks about joining them will consider twice.

When the TTP and its associates kill, injure, maim, disable humans (men, women, and children) and destroy public benefit and security projects and buildings, the highest echelons of morality and righteous behavior are reserved for them. And when they are caught, tried, and sentenced, they threaten action and revenge. They must understand that religion and morality are not two way streets. "If one plays with fire, then one must be prepared to get burned," is an adage. The geography of Afghanistan has never been at peace due to its harsh terrain and environment. The inhabitants have been honed by the environment to be what they are and remain divided and at odds with each other. It will be difficult to manage peace with them. Salams

Pluck up courage and confront the talibans and meet them headlong, otherwise you and PML(N) will go down in history as the party which buckled under the fear of Talibans and lost a nation created by its fearless founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Pakistani government having decided to hang these 4 talibans should go ahead as planned, should that not happen i.e. hangings postponed due to threats from the talibans, the government's credibility will most certainly be at stake. Talibans should not be allowed to rule pakistan by issuing threats and acting as a government within a government. The people of pakistan chose their government by due process of law laid down by their constitution and that is the one who makes national decisions not the talibans.

The TTP threat will work. The prisoners, under some reason or another, will walk free as the court will fail to find final evidence and will withdraw them from death row.

Extremists in Pakistan have the final word as bureaucracy, judiciary and politicians are easily intimidated. Look at the fact that no one today is staging masive protests against killings of Awami party functionaries by these extremists. No MNA led protests, no major citizen outrage and march for this.

Now nobody has any doubt that TTP and LeJ are two part of one entity. Their ideology and goals are same. Together they want to impose their distorted religious ideology on everyone in Pakistan, wants to kill security agencies personnel & minorities of Pakistan. They are one, that's why TTP is reacting so harshly on LeJ men hanging. I hope PML-N will not bow to TTP threats and go ahead with fulfilling the requirements of justice.

it is time to fight fire with fire. The previous government did not execute anyone on the basis they had qualms about the death penalty. We now are at a juncture where we must make it clear not only to the terrorists, but those contemplating joining them, that death is what awaits them when they are captured. We should accelerate the execution of all those convicted in terrorism cases. Leaving them alive only emboldens their friends, as they ridicule our sense of justice. PML-N now in power are going to have to side with civilization, and show the JUI to the be the terrorist apologists. enough is enough.

They have no remorse for killing thousands of innocent Pakistanis, but they have the audacity to threaten the government of Pakistan on planning to execute their criminals. To make matters worse, they regularly claim responsibility and boast about the killings. We must let these extremist organizations know that we will not bow down to terrorism. We must stand united against those who pose a threat to the safety of our nations. We stand by the government of Pakistan and fully support their efforts to counter these homegrown militants. @Taj Ali: Besides hanging the criminals immediately the government should also avoid any anouncement of the day when such execution is planned. They are criminals they should be hanged. They are enemies of Pakistan they should be killed immediately on being cited. No discussions and no pardon for them. After some time we will have the fruit. But from people like Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan and even Zardar there is little hope of some thing positive in this regard. We require army and/or person like Perwaiz Musharraf. The Talibans say if execution takes place then they will retaliate; they are already doing the massacre and they will continue doing doing it whether they are puinished or not. The public knows this will happen and perhaps are prepared for it. But the government should go ahead. Even do not talk too much with Asma Jahangir and do not listen to her.

These barbarians must be executed ASAP and they are not Muslims who have killed countless innocent people in Pakistan. Death sentence has been awarded to them for their terrorist activities not any charity work. So why TTP is threatening to halt death sentence. Govt writ must be fully implemented and these cowards must be uprooted with full force and eliminated like in Hazrat Alis era. These TTPs are extremists and termed khawarij in Islam and must be eliminated at any cost as per Hadith as our beloved prophet Muhammad SAW. No peace talks should be encouraged at this stage when thousands of people have been victims of their barbarism. It would be great insult to martyred souls if any peace talks are undertaken with TTP.

It is all nice to hear Hang em all. I am not condoning any crimes what so ever but lets be honest. If there was rule of law in Pakistan many people will be discouraged from crimes. First of all our so called rulers should apply that rule to themselves. How come Pakistan has been plundered for over 65 years by everyone who got into power and how come all that money has never been retrieved and nobody has been punished. The hypocrisy does not stop there. Even the judiciary is engulfed in it as shown by the way Justice Iftikhar's son walked scot free. Let us also look at ourselves. Are we scared of the law? No. given half the chance we all commit crimes according to our own capabilities. It just happens that Taliban's bar of crime is very high. Please punish all who commit crimes starting from above downwards.

I always questions Taliban why Taliban go after a Masjids or a crowded places to kill other Muslims. They always cry about Drone attack and make it a reason to kill the innocent Pakistanis. This logic make no senses toe me Drone attack is wrong according to Taliban definition but killing 1000's of Muslims within Pakistan by suicide bombs is good thing. If Taliban are so much against America than America is in Afghanistan and not in Pakistan. Taliban's have become a big joke for and really they have given bad names to the Mujhaideen of Cold War.
