KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari arrived here on Monday hours before the presidential election, ending his month-long private visit to London.

His spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said President Zardari returned home via Dubai.

“There is no engagement scheduled yet,” Mr Babar said. “This would be decided only after second half of the day. There is no engagement yet of the president at Bilawal House for Tuesday but it can be scheduled anytime in the second half of the day.”

Though there was no official announcement, sources aware of political developments said President Zardari was likely to meet senior PPP leaders and legislators on Tuesday.

The PPP is boycotting the election.
