THIS refers to ‘Sectarianism challenge for PML-N govt: US report’ (July 19). The truth is that for the last several decades ordinary Pakistani citizens have been targeted by terrorists by indiscriminate firing, bomb blasts, suicide attacks and by several other means.

Soon after an incident, the international and local media starts labelling such acts of terrorism and attack on Pakistani citizens as ‘sectarian violence’.

Actually, there had been no sectarian violence in our society. Pakistanis are living with each other peacefully and harmoniously. It is also a truth that no sect has attacked another sect as it is portrayed by the media.

Terrorism in Pakistan cannot be termed as sectarianism. Pakistani people have unity in diversity. Pakistan is not facing sectarian threat from its own citizens rather it is being targeted by external factors who are using terrorists as their proxy to destabilise Pakistan for their ulterior motives.
