IT is heartening to note that Pakistan has signed eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with all-weather friend China.

However, most of the times the MoUs we sign prove to be nothing more than too ambitious or an unrealistic fantasy.

For example, what happened to the MoUs signed Dec 17, 2010, by Pakistan and China during the three-day visit of our respected guest Prime Minister Wen Jiabao?

On that occasion, we signed some 20 MoUs for about 30 billion dollars in the fields of banking, energy, telecommunication, new dams, upper atmosphere research, special economic zone, etc.

In view of the importance of our relationship and to make MoUs become a reality, it is advisable that we in Pakistan set up a special ministry dealing only with Chinese affairs.
