LAHORE, July 11: Punjab IGP Khan Baig on Thursday transferred and posted five superintendents of police, five deputy superintendents of police and two assistant superintendents of police across the province.

According to a handout, Asmatullah Junejo (awaiting posting) was transferred and posted Multan Saddar Division SP; Bahawalpur SP Investigation Ijaz Shafi was transferred and posted Faisalabad Jaranwala division SP vice Muhammad Nasir Sial who was transferred and posted Faisalabad Madina Town SP; Gujranwala Traffic SP Zulfiqar Ahmad was transferred and posted as Faisalabad Iqbal Town SP, whereas Multan SP Investigation Naseer Khan Nasar was transferred and directed to report to the Central Police Office, Punjab.

Similarly, Capt Ameer Saud (retired), ASP/SDPO Race Course Circle Lahore, was transferred and posted as SDPO Barki Circle Lahore; ASP Agha Ramzan Ali (awaiting posting) was posted SDPO Rojhan Circle Rajanpur; Shahbaz Hussain, SDPO New Town Circle Rawalpindi, was transferred and posted SDPO City Circle Rawalpindi; Sharafat Ali, SDPO Baragarh Circle Nankana Sahib, was transferred and posted DSP Headquarters Lodhran; whereas Riaz Ahmad, SDPO City Circle Rawalpindi, Asim Iftikhar, SDPO Barki Circle Lahore, and Wali Muhammad, DSP Headquarters Lodhran, were directed to report to the Central Police Office Punjab Lahore with immediate effect.

The police authorities have not yet appointed district police officers in Vehari, Rajanpur and Bahawalpur. The posts have been lying vacant for the last two weeks. Similarly, posts of Rawaplindi and Multan CPOs are also vacant.

As many as 12 police officers ranking from the DIG to the SP were called for interviews for the posts of RPO CPO and DPO at the Model Town Camp Office of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday but they returned without interviews because of CM’s presence in Islamabad.

A police source told Dawn that the same officers had been re-called at the same venue on Friday (today) at 8am.He said Tob Tek Singh, Kasur and Chiniot would also likely to have new DPOs after the interviews, adding that the vacant field posts could not be filled because of Shahbaz Sharif’s busy schedule and his China visit.

CULPRITS: The National Highways & Motorway Police N-5 Central claim to have arrested five robbers and recovered illicit weapon, cash and other valuables from their possession in the last few days. Two lost children were united with his aggrieved family.

Patrolling officers nabbed Waheed Khan of Bajaur Agency, Babar Shahzad of Multan, Muhammad Iftikhar of Multan and Barkat Ali of Muzaffargarh and recovered valuables from their possession. In another incident, the NH&MP officers arrested Shafiq of Phoolnagar involved in stealing wood from trees on national highways.

The NH&MP Guidance Center helped seven-year-old Rizwan and nine-year-old old Shahid Mahmood reunite with their families.

On the directions of Sector Commander N-5 Mirza Faran Baig, the arrested suspects and recovered items were handed over to the local police for further legal action.

NH&MP Inspector General Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema appreciated the efforts of the officers.
