QUETTA: After thorough consultation, the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) decided to take part in parliamentary politics in the country.

Agha Hassan Baloch, the Central Secretary Information told Dawn.com that Chief of BNP, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, as well as members of the provincial assembly Essa Noori and Mir Hamal Kalmati would take oath as parliament members within the next couple of days. However, the party will sit in the opposition benches.

“BNP-M would raise an effective voice inside the parliament for acquisition of rights of the Baloch people,” the Central Secretary Information said. He said that Mengal had consulted all district, provincial and central office bearers before making the decision.

The party previously had decided not to take oath as members of parliament. They had launched a protest campaign against alleged rigging in the recently held historic general elections in the country.
