Judges’ detention case: Tayyab excuses himself from taking on prosecutor’s role

ISLAMABAD: The anti-terrorist court in Islamabad on Wednesday directed the government to appoint a public prosecutor in the judges’ detention case against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf by May 18 after Advocate Syed Tayyab excused himself from performing the role on account of personal reasons, DawnNews reported.
During today’s hearing of the case, Judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi of the ATC moreover directed the police to present a charge sheet against Musharraf by May 18.
The case is based on an FIR against the retired general registered in August 11, 2009 on the complaint of Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman advocate.
He had asked the police to initiate legal proceedings against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after proclamation of a state of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.
The case is one of three against Musharraf in Pakistani courts. He is also accused of involvement in a conspiracy to murder Benazir Bhutto in 2007 and over the 2006 killing of Baloch nationalist leader Akbar Khan Bugti.
Musharraf returned to Pakistan in March after nearly four years of self-imposed exile.

Musharaff a great an honorable man and strong leader came by himself to face the politically motivated charges against him. Never in the history of countries had any leader who was deposed or went in exile never ever presented himself to the justice system. Musharaff knows and fact is that he hasn't done anything wrong. If Pakistan judiciary deal with honesty and according to the law without vengeance. Musharaff will come out smelling roses.

This is an unbelievable system of justice where the convicts by same system are now holding both the highest positions in the government and a (wrongly) accused is behind bars stripped of his basic rights. God save this country and it's people from these corrupt institutes and officials.

If the judges dispense justice and do not become vendetta seekers , turning the courts into Kangaroo Courts, then I believe Musharraf will be exonerated of all charges against him . Bugti committed suicide and took with him 4 or 5 Army officers who went unarmed into the cave to negotiate with him. Plenty of evidence on that score . On judges detention , Musharraf gave no such orders and I believe the JIT has found no evidence of that . As far as the treason case , he cant be charged for it as the decision to sack the judges was taken after consultation with the then elected Govt and others . Musharraf was confident of his innocence and that is why he came back but unfortunately he did not recon on facing a completely biased and hostile judiciary who have so far shown their bared teeth and aren't hiding their animosity towards Musharraf.

It is really sad when an honest and a sincere man is being punished for doing his best to save the country while people who looted and bankrupted the country are enjoying life and holding powerful positions.
You are bound to make few wrong decision (in good faith) when you make hundreds of good decisions.
I am surprised that Armed Forces is letting one of their five star general being insulted, humiliated and abused who did not do anything wrong.

No Robin Hoods please. There is no leniency when you cut the pillars of the state down. No country can exist without judicial system. Dismissal and confinement of 60 judges with their families is an unpardonable act. How did he become president in the first place?

Cannot be tried???? He is already being tried sir. Do you want International Court or imported judges to try Musharraf for crimes against humanity? You cannot have two sets of law, one for the people of Pakistan and the other for the elite. We must put Pakistan back on track through accountability.

One thing i can not understand that treason case is bogus case. It can not be initiated by public
or any individual. Court should not accept it. Treason case if it has any validity it should come from the Government. As Attorney General of care taker Government refused to initiate and refused to take part.
But with this Kangroo court any thing is possible. Shame on you Judges.

I wish the Pakistani judges do justice to the term 'justice' and expedite cases against proper terrorists caught on battlefields by the amry rather than display petty vengeful antics against someone who actually demonstrated what good leadership can bring out of Pakistanis.
I make no comment on the person of Musharaf, just that he had vision and people believed and more importantly - DELIVERED! Something which the current rabble of judges have failed to do - against Haqqani and his memo, Zardari and his NRO, and all other politicians who have milked your country like a personal possession.
I only have pity for the people who believed in these black coats who appear to have become the black sheep of Pakistan.
God help you guys if this is justice!
