KARACHI, Oct 30: A judicial magistrate on Tuesday granted bail to 12 suspects in a rioting case.
The Defence police booked 12 men, including three students Shahnawaz, Ahsan and Nabeel, for allegedly staging violent protests over the arrest of some suspects in a search operation conducted in a shantytown in the Defence Housing Authority.
The police produced the suspects before the court of a judicial magistrate (south) for remand.
However, the court ordered their release against a surety bond of Rs5,000 each.
A case (FIR 376/12) was registered under Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 337-H (punishment for hurt by rash or negligent act) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Defence police station.
