MANSEHRA, Oct 21: The Torghar police arrested four policemen for getting jobs in the department allegedly on the basis of fake domicile certificates, sources said.

Torghar DPO Shahnazar Khan took action and terminated the services of four policemen identified as Naveed Iqbal, Rehan Ali Shah, Farman Shah and Syed Adeel Shah after their domicile certificates were found fake during verification.

The Judbah police had also lodged FIR against them under various sections of the law and arrested them.

The Torghar district officer revenue, sources said, had confirmed to the DPO that all the four policemen were inhabitants of Battagram district and their forefathers did not belong to Torghar. They were appointed in the police department in 2010.

Sources said that a junior clerk at the office of Torghar district coordination officer and another official identified as Mohammad Arshad were also arrested for helping the policemen in preparation of fake domicile certificates.

The district education officer of Torghar had terminated the services of about 30 male and female teachers for getting jobs on fake educational documents last month.

ENCOUNTER: A policeman was injured in exchange of fire with timber smugglers Khane Balimang area of Battal, officials said.

They said that a huge quantity of high quality timber was seized after the encounter. “A policeman was injured in exchange of fire with timber smugglers but we managed to seize a huge quantity of timber,” Matloob Shah, SHO Battal, told journalists on Sunday.

He said that a police party headed by him was on way to arrest a proclaimed offender in the area when it came across the timber smugglers, who opened firing law enforcers and injured a constable, Mohammad Asif. Mr Shah said that though the timber smugglers managed to escape yet police seized high quality timber.—Nisar Ahmad Khan
