KARACHI, Aug 16: Three women and a policeman were among the at least six persons killed in separate incidents of violence in the city on Thursday. The bodies of two women were found in Sikandar Goth near the Reti-Bajri stop with the remit of the Sachal police station in the early hours of the day, police said.

The victims were kidnapped and later killed somewhere by unknown persons and their bodies were dumped off the Superhighway.

The bodies of both women, aged around 30 and 40, bore torture marks. They also had multiple gunshot wounds, the police said.

A few hours after the recovery of the bodies, the two victims were identified as Naseem Bibi and Mumtaz Bibi.

SHO of the Schal police station Azhar Iqbal said both women were the wives of Ghulam Fareed. On Wednesday night they had gone shopping to Al-Asif Square but did not return home.

The husband of the murdered women told the police that the he had personal enmity and his wives were killed by his opponents.

The third woman was killed allegedly by a woman neighbor in Saeedabad, the police said.

Saeedabad police station SHO Chaudhry Irshad said the body of Nusrat, 26, wife of Jehangir, was found in their home in Sector 12 of Saeedabad in the evening.

“The body bore torture marks and a head injury. Her tongue was pressed between the teeth and there were marks around her eyes,” the SHO said.

She had been subjected to severe torture and apparently she had been throttled, he said.

The victim was killed allegedly by her neighbour identified as Safiya, who had fled home after locking it, the SHO said, adding that both women had some serious rivalry. The victim’s body was discovered when her husband returned home from work, the police said.

CID man

A policeman posted in the crime investigation department (CID) was killed by unknown persons within the remit of the Garden police station on Thursday.

Police said the incident took place in Usmanabad along Nishtar Road where unknown suspects riding a motorcycle targeted Nasir Niazi, 45, who was also on a two-wheeler.

The policeman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot. Police reached the scene and shifted his body to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. Police said the victim was posted in the DIG-CID office and used to distribute
office mail. He was a resident of Cheel Chowk, Eidgah ground, in Lyari.

Police said a few months back the victim’s nephew Haris Niazi was killed allegedly by gangster Sheeraz Comrade. Haris was associated with the gang of Taj Mohammad alias Taju, the police said.

 A few weeks ago, another policeman posted in the CID was killed within the remit of the Baghdadi police station.

 Police said the slain policeman had two wives. Following the killing firing between two groups broke in the Usmanabad area of trans-Lyari in which two persons were wounded.

 Injured Javed and Riaz were shifted to the CHK for treatment. A reinforcement of police and Rangers was dispatched to the area following the intense firing.

Bandit killed

A bus passenger shot dead an alleged bandit during a robber bid in the passenger bus in the Saeedabad area. A girl passenger was also wounded in the firing, police said.

They said the incident took place in a minibus of route X-8 on which two suspects boarded and started looting the passengers.

Meanwhile, a passenger grabbed the pistol from one of the suspects and shot him.

 A girl sitting in the front section of the bus was also hit and injured. She was identified as 10-year-old Shagufta, the police said.

The other suspect escaped.

 The wounded bandit was taken to a nearby private hospital, where he died during treatment. The girl was taken to the CHK, where she was stated to be in a stable condition.

 Police said the alleged bandit was identified as Mohammad Asif and according to his family he had twice been to jail on robbery charges, SHO Chaudhry Irshad said.

Head found

A head was found dumped in a small shop in Kharadar on Thursday.

A duty officer of the Kharadar police station said the head was in a paper market shop near Badami Masjid.

 SSP-South Asif Ajaz Shaikh said the head was dumped inside a nimco shop.

 “The shopkeeper had gone to the nearby mosque to offer prayers. When he returned, he found the head in his shop,” the SSP said.

 “It’s a small 8x2 shop located in the Goa Street, where the head was dumped.”

 The other parts of the human body were yet to be found, the police said.

 The police shifted the head to the CHK for medico-legal formalities.

50-year-old man

A 50-year-old man was shot dead by unknown persons in what police described as a snatching attempt in SITE on Thursday night.

 Police said the incident took place within the remit of the SITE-A police station near Rasheedabad, where Banaras Khan, 50,
was intercepted by two suspects on a motorbike. They shot him on resistance during a snatching attempt, the police said.

They shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
