RAWALPINDI, April 1: A widow was allegedly raped in Civil Lines police area while another woman was killed by her brother after she got married of her own free will in Airport Housing Society, police said on Sunday.

In her complaint with the police, the widow said she had been running a boutique in her house to earn livelihood after the death of her husband. She said a man (H.N.), who frequently visited her boutique, came to her shop on Saturday and asked her to show him some clothes for his wife.

She offered a cup of tea to the customer and also brought one for herself. However, shortly after taking the tea, she fell unconscious and was raped by the man.

The police took the woman to hospital for medical examination and started raids to arrest the accused.

Meanwhile, a woman who got married of her free will was shot dead by her brother.

Mohammad Waqar told the police that his brother Afraq had married Sadia some three months back.

He said Ms Sadia was at home on Saturday when her brother Taimoor came and exchanged hot words with her, and then shot her dead. — Staff Reporter
