LAKKI MARWAT, March 27: A man and his son were killed over an old enmity by their rivals in the forests near Shah Madu village here, said police on Tuesday.

Quoting an FIR lodged by Rashid Ahmad police said the complainant’s father Mohammad Nawaz and brother Irfanullah were intercepted by their rivals on gunpoint near Shah Madu village when they were going to their village Paharkhel Thall on a motorcycle after attending a court in judicial complex Tajazai.

They said the accused snatched the motorcycle and took Mohammad Nawaz and his son Irfanullah to the Darga forests. “The accused later killed both of them and dumped their bodies in the forests,” said the police.

They said the bodies were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities and a case was registered against the accused, including Khalid Usman, Akram Khan, Iqbal, Hameedullah, Sher Nawaz, Sharifullah, Sanaullah and Naser Khan.

LAWYERS’ BOYCOTT: Legal fraternity of the district continued boycott of court proceedings on the second consecutive day on Tuesday to protest the killing of their colleagues in Karachi and Mardan.

The lawyers held a meeting in the judicial complex Tajazai with district bar association president advocate Naimatullah Khan in the chair to condemn the killings of their colleagues.

Mr Naimatullah said targeting of lawyers was a matter of concern and the government should ensure protection of life and properties of the legal community. He demanded of the government to order quarters concerned to arrest the killers of lawyers forthwith and compensate the bereaved families.
