CHAKWAL, March 26: A busted gang of outlaws involved in car-lifting and robberies made stunning revelations here on Monday during a press conference at City police station.

“It takes us five minutes to lift a Toyota XLI car while Honda poses a little difficulty as we have to spend fifteen minutes on it”, remarked the leader of the gang arrested by Chakwal police.

Abbas Khan, the head the gang revealed that only cars having a specific lock are beyond their prowess. “We could not lift the cars which have a specific lock that binds the break, clutch and accelerator peddles together of the car as to break it we need a tough endeavor of two hours,” he divulged.

Abbas in his mid twenties confessed to stealing more than one hundred cars in two years. He further disclosed that they sell stolen cars in Swabi and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

“We sell XLI of 2008 model at Rs170,000”, he continued. A locked car was presented to him for showing his skills. In no time, he opened the bonnet of the car and then unlocked it. After this he opened the door of the vehicle and placed jammers inside. As he did it, the cellular services went off leaving every one present there dumbfounded. Surprisingly, the whole exercise took him only four minutes.

The arrest of the gang members was facilitated by two citizens whom they looted on March 17. The six robbers struck at the house of Aftab Shaheen, a resident of Line Park locality in Chakwal city at 11:30am.

They deprived the family of Rs129, 000 and other valuables. However Aftab along with his cousin Imran Javed caught two robbers and handed them over to police. At this, efforts to arrest the other four robbers started.

They were nabbed within a week and police also recovered the devices used to lift the cars from their custody.

“They are fully equipped with modern technology and they have stolen more than one hundred vehicles in last two years”, said the DPO Kashif Mushtaq Kanju.

He disclosed that all the six members of the gang belonged to Afghanistan.

Later the DPO gave away prizes to Aftab Shaheen and his cousin Imran Javed for helping police.
