LAHORE, March 15: The Supreme Court on Thursday took notice of Faisalabad police failure in arresting a main accused of a gang-rape case and gave last opportunity to the district police chief to produce the culprit within a week.

Faisalabad CPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana told the court that accused Asghar Ali was still at large and more time should be given for his arrest.

The court was hearing a suo motu case about gang-rape with a lady (S). Except Asghar Ali, all other four accused had been arrested by the police. On last hearing the victim had alleged before the court that Ali, the main accused, was a close friend of Punjab law minister, therefore, the police was not arresting him.
