KARACHI, Feb 6: At least six people, including a transporter and a policeman, were killed in different parts of the city over the last two days, police said.

A 63-year-old transporter was killed in Patel Para on Monday, officials said.

They said the incident took place inside the victim’s house where Fazal had an altercation with his uncle, Saeedullah Khan, over a monetary dispute.

“Fazal fired at his uncle after having an altercation with him and fled,” said a police official.

The police said the body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

The victim was the father of five children.

No case was registered till late in the evening.

Man found shot dead

A young man was found shot dead in Mawach Goth, Baldia Town, within the remit of the Saeedabad police station in the early hours of Monday.

The police said the body was found in the bushes in Mawach Goth.

Saeedabad SHO Asad Mangi said the victim had suffered two gunshot wounds. It appeared that he had been killed somewhere else before his body was dumped at the spot. The victim was in his mid-30s.

The body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. Later it was taken to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

Young man killed

A young man, hailing from Balochistan, was killed in Manghopir on Monday.

Abdul Majeed, 24, was sitting with a friend in Mushki Para, Garam Chashma, when armed men riding a motorcycle arrived there, shot at him and rode away, police said.

The victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died during treatment.

He had suffered two bullet wounds, the police said.

Inquiry Officer SI Muhammad Riaz said that the victim was unemployed.  He quoted his family as saying that he had no enmity with anyone.

Man gunned down

Earlier on Sunday, a young man was killed by gunmen in front of his home in a Baldia Town locality, police said.

They added that the incident took place in Gulshan-i-Ghazi near Jungle School within the remit of the Mochko police station.

Inayat Khan, 35, was standing in front of his home where armed men riding a motorcycle pulled up and opened fire on him before speeding away, the police said.

The police said the victim suffered two bullet wounds that proved fatal. They took the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

Mochko SHO Nasir Mehmood said the victim was a driver and a resident of Gulshan-i-Ghazi.

He quoted the victim’s family as saying that he had no enmity with anyone.

The victim was the father of three and hailed from Haripur. Later, the police handed over his body to his relatives and registered an FIR (39/2012) against unidentified men on a complaint of the victim’s brother, Sher Khan, at the Mochko police station.

Policeman shot dead

A policeman was shot dead in Defence View’s Ghani Market within the remit of the Baloch Colony police station on Sunday.

The police said Humayun Khan, 32, was a resident of Mehmoodabad No 6. He was going to a teashop near his home in Ghani Market when he was shot dead by armed men said to be on a motorcycle.

The police said that after suffering a gunshot, the victim fell to the ground, and the suspects fired repeated shots before fleeing.

The victim was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Baloch Colony SHO Aslam Khakrani said the victim was a supervisor in a private security company and hailed from Naushahro Feroz. He added that the victim had contracted a freewill marriage two years back and had since been living in the city.

He said the victim’s brother was posted in the Naushahro Feroz police and his family members believed the freewill marriage could be the most likely motive for the murder.

Truck driver killed

A truck driver was killed on the Superhighway within the remit of the Sachal police station on Sunday.

Police said Ghulam Badshah, 45, was shot dead near the Ali Town truck stand along the highway.

SHO Azhar Ali Iqbal said the victim was a resident of a settlement near Chamra Chowrangi in the Korangi Industrial Area.

The victim had gone to visit his brother on holiday in the Sachal area. Assailants targeted him as he reached his brother’s home, the police said.

The body of the victim was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The police said the motive for the murder was yet to be ascertained.

The victim was the father of four.

The police registered a case against unidentified men on a complaint of the victim’s brother.
